Welcome to Dogtober. Roxy & I are excited to bring you weekly pupdates about this special month and some of the activities we will be involved in and information about how you can get involved.
So first things first. What are you going to do this Dogtober to help raise awareness and much needed funds for Assistance Dogs Australia? There are plenty of ideas on this site such as organising a Dog’s breakfast, baking and selling Pup Cakes or Hot Dogs, even a Dogleg Golf Day with your mates. For more dog-spiration ideas visit the get involved section on this site.
Roxy & I will be participating in the Dogtober Launch in the centre of Sydney to kick things off. Attending some shopping centre stalls and other functions where we’ll do demonstrations, have some meet and greet time and sell merchandise … speaking of merchandise, have you visited the Assistance Dogs website and checked out all the wonderful items you can buy that will directly financially support our wonderful pups in training. Click on www.assistancedogs.org.au and have a look at our range of T-shirts, plush dogs, keyrings, Christmas cards and even virtual gifts.
It’s always a fun week the start of Dogtober as it also coincides with Roxy’s birthday. This year she turns 9 but is ageing gracefully. Over the next few weeks I’ll talk about how we celebrated, what we’re up to in the future and when she might retire and what happens after she stops being my wonderful independence assistant.
Until then, make sure you register your event or activity online through this site, or even like our Facebook page and share your photos and stories.
